How to Make a Good First Impression

When it comes to dating, we’re all (mostly) invested in pursuing romance and the elusive, mythical “true love.” Whether you believe in destiny, or you think love is just a chemical reaction, you’ve probably felt something esoteric and deep down inside you tugging at your heart strings from time to time. We all (mostly) have. Love is important to us, and it should be. However, dating, itself, can be a harrowing journey. You put it all on the line when pursuing romance. When you’re invested in a person, you want things to go well, of course. Here are some tips to help you in the dating scene.

First and foremost, hygiene is of the utmost importance here, as it is with any social setting or activity, but even more so. This almost goes without saying because of that, but it bears repeating, because hygiene can make or break a first impression. So, make sure to freshen up before your date. Brush your teeth, floss, and rinse with mouthwash, for starters, and don’t be afraid to shower again. Grooming is also important, of course, so trim your beard if it’s getting unruly and make sure your hair is neatly combed, unless, of course, you’re going for a wilder look.

Next, there’s your outfit. Clothing is an important factor in our overall appearances and, of course, the vital first impression. So, make sure to bring your best. Try to avoid damaged, dirty, or overly wrinkled clothes. Also, try not to wear anything in poor taste that your date might not like. Don’t be afraid to spend a little on some fresh duds from American Apparel to bring your look together. Looks aren’t everything, but they are important, and your hygiene, grooming, and choice of apparel do say some things about your inner workings, so project a good image to make a great first impression.
